Tourism and hospitality is a major industry in the California Wine Country. Graduates of these programs can develop careers with travel agencies, hotels, resorts, wineries, and more.
TOURISM, HOSPITALITY AND WINE INDUSTRIES: Learn the intricacies of the hospitality, tourism and wine industry. Courses prepare students for three certifications from the American Hotel and Lodging Association: Convention Management and Service, Hospitality Sales and Marketing, and Managing Front Office Operations.
Objective: This short-term program provides the student with the necessary skills to enter the hospitality and travel industry. There is an emphasis on tour planning, convention sales and service, event planning, California wine industry, international travel, airline reservations, as well as English. Graduates qualify for positions as travel agents, reservationists, front desk clerks, planners, concierge, conference service managers, in addition to numerous other positions in the travel and hospitality industry. In keeping with the philosophy of Empire College, the emphasis in this program is placed on marketable skills.
In addition to 650 hours of core classes, students may choose a concentration in Travel or Sales and Marketing for the remaining 100 hours. Students who choose the Travel Concentration will have four travel-related classes added to their core program.
