Job Description
Our services have been retained to recruit a MANAGER OF STRATEGIC SOURCING (Meat or Dairy prefer Cheese) for a multi-billion dollar food processor located in one of three Midwest locations (a KY community of 20,000, a KS community of 20,000 and metro in upper Plains States MN/IA region). The position reports to the Director of Purchasing for a $1 billion dollar plus division and has an annual budget/spend of roughly $140 + Million +. This position is responsible for managing the supply base, working with plants and R&D. Duties include assisting the Director of Purchasing involving developing strategies and assisting buyers. Will lead improvement projects including supplier performance, cost savings, and quality enhancements. Forecast/track market conditions/costs. Maintain relationship with departments from sales to logistics. Manage supplier costs, selection, etc. Bring new technology/ideas/opportunities to facilitate lower costs, enhance quality, etc. Candidate must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 8 to 10 years purchasing experience with food manufacturer in the dairy (preferably cheese) or meat arena. Skills needed include Intermediate PC skills/ Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Intermediate proficiency with numeric data analysis. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability in contracts and negotiations. Must have excellent communications and facilitation skills to interact with people at a variety of management levels both internally and externally. Demonstrates expertise with multiple ingredients, commodities and spend categories. Strong problem solving skills and ability to work under tight time restraints. Salary in the $90-110,000 base range with up to 15% bonus potential, excellent benefits and very competitive relocation package. (Might be flexible according to experience.
