Hospitality Minnesota's top priority is government affairs. Legislative activities are coordinated by our Hospitality Minnesota Legislative Committee and supported by the Hospitality Political Action Committee (HOPAC). President and CEO Dave Siegel, and Vice President of Government Affairs Tom Day head our staff effort. We Inform and Educate Hospitality Minnesota's three associations, Minnesota Restaurant Association, Minnesota Hotel & Lodging Association, and Minnesota Resort & Campground Association, represent the five major segments of the industry and operate cooperatively under Hospitality Minnesota. The Associations keep members informed regarding laws, regulations, industry trends and trade news through regular communications and educational programs. The associations also own and manage the annual UP Show (Upper Midwest Hospitality, Restaurant & Lodging Show). Our Industry is an Economic Powerhouse in Minnesota Hospitality businesses throughout the state employ more than 127,000 people and pay $3.3 billion in wages each year, making our industry Minnesota's second-largest employer. Annual sales for the industry exceed $8.3 billion and generate nearly $1 billion in tax receipts.
