The Hawai'i Restaurant Association was formed in 1947 under the name of the Oahu Dispensers Association.The name was changed to Hawaii Restaurant and Dispensers Association in January 1949 and in 1974 the name was changed to the Hawaii Restaurant Association. In keeping with the spirit of the highest standards of public service and business responsibility, the Hawaii Restaurant Association works to maintain these service ethics by its membership: For this we stand. Food: Provide the optimal value of wholesome food to customers. Service: Maintain courteous, attentive, and efficient service in pleasant atmospheres. Health: Protect everyone's health by operating clean, safe and sanitary premises. Employment Standards: Establish performance standards for personnel based on education, training and provide equitable wages and attractive working conditions. Citizenship: Contribute to community life by participation in civic and business development through association and cooperation with responsible authorities. Fair Competition: Engage in fair and open competition based on truthful representation of product and services offered. Competitive Purchasing: Purchase goods and services only from reputable purveyors on a competitive basis. Industry Development: Contribute through dedication of service to the public toward the growth and development of the food service industry. Reasonable Profit: Maintain the ability to earn a reasonable profit for service rendered.
