The Connecticut Restaurant Association has been a vital part of the state's hospitality industry since 1973. Founded as the "Associated Restaurants of Connecticut," the AROC as it was called, served its members through educational and training programs, as well as its ongoing legislative efforts. These were the lean years for the association… as the membership rolls were building, the executive offices shared a small portion of the business offices of one of its Board Members. It was also not uncommon in those days for members of the Board to lend money to the Association to meet its monthly operating expenses! The Association's Officers and Directors knew that there was "strength in association," and that their early efforts were not being wasted. Connecticut's Legislators and Commissioners immediately recognized this group as the representative in fact of Connecticut's Hospitality industry, and worked closely with the association in all matters of legislation and regulation. The Connecticut Restaurant Association realizes and appreciates its debt to its founders, and continues to build upon the foundation that they laid more than 30 years ago.
Today, the Connecticut Restaurant Association speaks for nearly 600 hospitality professionals who serve their guests in over 1,000 locations throughout Connecticut.
